telkom wholesale announcement coming up, hope this brings some exciting news.

CW, has Telkom announced exactly how much they're lowering IPC costs?

There are 2... One IPC and another for DSL Line prices... I'm more excited about the Latter IMHO

you think it'll just be a price decrease (even though the phone line price increased) or will something more exciting happen?

It's more complicated than it being a simple reduction in IPC. They'd end up lowering revenue that way, so they're not doing that. In fact they're trying to increase revenue, so they're trying to incentivise ISPs to buy more IPC with once-off discounts. So it's not quite the massive drop in IPC as portrayed by the media, and will also require ISPs to actually spend more money, and also adopt the risk of having to fill the spare capacity quickly. So we won't make any comment on this until we're 100% ready to.

Depending how much profit certain ISPs want to skim off the top... May not even be a price decrease.

Sounds like telscum is running with an angle on this. Lets just hope they don't break the wagon in the process:whistle:.

Hmm, hope this won't affect some of us negatively. Wink. Wink.

Hope to hear some official news soon.

Hi,

I notice that the Crystal Web and WebAfrica packages are similar with exception to the premium business capped, with CrystalWeb being about R5 cheaper.
They seem to be also both on the IS network.

So how does network quality between the two differ and why? Or are they essentially the same in network quality?

Hiya all,

Need some advice please.
I'm on an Afrihost capped package at the moment. It's a home capped package however it's unshaped. When it works it's great.
Thing is there are regular issues on the network so I'm considering a move to CW.
So I'm wondering which CW package offers an equivalent to my current AH package.

Regards,
SD.

I'm on home capped. Running like a dream. However I don't torrent. At all. Ever. All my downloads do happen between 00:00 and 06:00 and it runs full speed. Any gaming and streaming runs flawlessly. Also any downloads I need to do in the day like drivers and patches also comes down full speed :)

If you come to the awesomeness that is CW...pm me for my referral code please. Would like the benefit won't lie.

No worries :). Will PM you once I decide.
Are you on the standard packages or did they do a specific deal for you?

Standard 120gb home capped package.

If you need a smaller package than the 90gb one you can ask support and they can provision one. They also have a specialised gamer account which is in BETA right now I believe.

Probably the normal home capped. That's what I'm on, and what I recommend to friends/family.

You get full speed (unshaped) on all protocols expect P2P/NNTP from 00:00-23:59. Then unshaped on all data between 00:00 and 06:00.

In that respect it differs from AH capped which is unshaped 24/7. So if you can schedule your downloads, then go for CW. I did, and haven't looked back.

You get bonus "download plus" data to use in off peak time that doesn't reduce your "anytime" data cap.

If I helped you and you sign up, please use my reference code: 1268864000001789001

EDIT: I see I'm a bit late, you've already been helped

Only some of our basic packages share the same profiles. All premium products are entirely unique to us and operate on our own custom shaping and management policies. We also operate our own IPC rather than buying accounts or gigs. So there are some fundamental differences, and they've earned us the top ISP in SA award for two quarters in a row. ;)

Even the CEO works public holidays. And some rather crazy hours. Some commission would be awesome once in a while.

Thank you for the feedback.
Can you confirm that you have a IPC in Cape Town, and if yes, does it have enough capacity to avoid the high contention ratio and shaping that is affecting Afrihost and Axxess IPC in Cape Town for example?
I am interested in your Premium Business Capped product.

Must have an excellent market strat monkey locked in that basement :D

Are the home capped accounts totally unshaped?
Is the R375 10Mbps line rental available for home capped accounts?

Just asking because I've got family yelling about the poor quality of Afrihost streaming atm.
