Are torrents throttled 24/7? I know it's supposed to be shaped only, but this definitely feels like throttling. Last night I started the first big torrent downloading since joining Crystalweb, I opened it about 22:30, and I expected it to be slow for the first hour or so due to shaping, which is fair enough. However, I left it overnight as I was made to believe that it shouldn't be shaped at all after midnight.

The torrents have more than enough seeds, yet it only did a measily 2GB worth of downloading in 8 hours. Can this be explained?

Not impressed. Was told to schedule these types of downloads for after hours, but now it seems even that is not good enough. Please tell me what options I have in order to get torrents moving faster with Crystalweb, because this is unacceptable.

Seems to be an IS issue - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...l-feedback?p=15161772&viewfull=1#post15161772.

@CW:

The DDOS is that related to something like NOIP service? (can't remember, asking again)

Hi doc

Looks like a problem with the host. They've configured entire IP ranges to be blocked. Reported to them and hopefully sorted shortly for all IS based accounts...

Hey DJ,

Thanks for the feedback. Sites came back last night sometime. Have no idea where the issue was but I don't care as they're working again.

Cheers :)

A mere coincidence then, which would make sense as few have reported issues. Let's see what you pick up on your side.

Quite sure we've identified the issue and certainly not IS related.

Just one thing to bear in mind is that we are not account or PerGB resellers of IS. We have our own IPC links in DBN, JHB, and CPT for complete countrywide connectivity so performance on other IS resellers will not necessarily be indicative of performance on our network at all unless there are major core backbone problems, which typically don't manifest as protocol related problems.

Understood, thanks.

I see the engineers sent me a report this morning with this update as well. Happy it's sorted, but let's make sure we don't all send WA issues our way. Send us your business instead.

:D :p

I have an account with you guys at home, so that counts :)

Tbh I contacted everyone I could possibly contact to get this resolved.

All of the recent DDOS attacks happening to all hosts and so on are related. It has hit all sorts of services, servers, and so on. Can't really comment much on them at the moment, but is certainly still active to an extent.

I just want to publicly thank you for your great support via PM. I always get the answers I need, and if we don't get there, you persist until we get there.

If you keep this up, I won't ever move, as all I want as a customer, is transparency and honesty, and Crystalweb has loads of that.

CW Please provide ETA on the SSL thing so I can signup without having to send my account details and ID number etc in clear text?

Telkom came to the party, and I've now got my 10Mbps setup.

Working great - 25 minutes to download a 1.6 gig Steam patch, so I'm able to sit here with my fractured patella, and play Pillars of Eternity in short order.

Nice!

one hour to download a STEAM update of 40mb, is this slow speed normal during peak hours on the home basic account?
Definitely not.

Just started and stopped a steam download to check this and it was running at line speed. Or at least started there till I stopped it.

Please look at support ticket 30307. I've reported Intermittent connection to live chat last night, run the tests and gave results to the support agent, and never got a response.

If you look at the router's logs, does it show line disconnects? Or when using another ISP?

Most likely went through all those checks already, but if not could help narrow down the problem maybe.

What is your download server set to? Mine is South Africa - Cape Town.
It was a Steam client update, the game updates go much quicker

Internet extremely slow tonight. Websites takes a while to load. Unable to stream YouTube at 360p without it constantly buffering :(
