Hi

My connection is reeeaaallyy slow today. Is there something wrong with the vodacom towers in Pierre van Ryneveld?
This is my speedtest result:

I'm trying to download a 6MB file and it says it's going to take 2 hours. I've phoned 155 but they can't help me. My reference number is S2-Y8BBS-S9GD.
VMC says my connection is good and it's using HSDPA.

added: Vodacom speedtest result
download speed: 266 kbps
upload speed: 6 kbps

It looks like this is still ongoing as I am still unable to do internation browsing.

Does anyone now if this has effect others, i.e DSL, MTN, iBurst?

International browsing is extremely slow/non existent. Local is only working at the moment. In the Edenvale area. Is anyone experiencing this?

yes, exact same problem since the weekend - 3g very erratic - sometimes connects to sites, sometime just hangs - sometimes can get to g0ogle.co.za and sometimes doesn't - is there anything we can do?

edit: ok just tried to call and after going through all the prompts end up with due to unforseen circumstances call centre is closed???

great

Ironic - posting from an MTN SIM LMAO!!!!!!!!

Same issue - SLOWWWWWW or no response from the site - most sites. SA sites seem ok - i guess...

I am in Midrand. Full signal (5 bars) but not much data throughput... Really bad international surfing!!

Good to see I am not the only one who feels like a stuck record when it comes to asking people to supply the required information. :)

MBB

anyone else having problems?

mine is disconnecting like ALL the time, since yesterday :erm:

a few minutes ago it wanted to connect to "3G" and not "Vodacom 3G" or "Vodacom HSDPA" - anything to do with that?

Battling with connection and download speed since last week. I am at Greenstone Hill.Directly opposite the Modderfontein Golf course

What can you do ?

I suggest you delete all the post that do not supply the info
This will have a snowball effect like whats happening now:rolleyes:

It's a fine balance between allowing people to get help and policing the thing to death, at the moment I am taking the more lenient approach. I was really hoping for some decent uptake on this thread, yet people still post all over the place without the required info :(

Anyway this is waaay off topic. So wrapping up.

I read the first page and followed the instructions. I phoned 155 and after a long fault finding session, the technical person said that my modem is faulty (even though local access is fine and International access is intermittent).

I also searched the forum for a similar problem and couldn't find anything. I then posted a question on here just to see if it was only me experiencing it.

I see no harm in that.

Sorry for irritating you.

Hi All,

There also in addition to this seem to be some interesting routing issues particularly between Neotel and Vodacom with route aggregations/deaggregations looking at the talk on the network operators list.

I've let some people in Vodacom know what we are seeing and they have informed me its being worked on.

Having huge latency and packet loss issues since last night. Logged a fault with 155. Problem seems to be on the breakout of Vodacom's network because the speedtest is fine.

Yes, I didn't do anything, it just came right. It was definitely not the modem, it must of been network problems.

I think the reason the consultant said it was my modem was because at the time I had the problem, I told him that browsing via my my phone was working which it was. I have no idea why I couldn't browse via the modem yet could browse via the phone.

After almost a week I got home last night to find that my internet was usable again. Woot! A follow-up with 155 and lots of prodding from VodacomData earlier in the week revealed that my local BTS (?Base Transmission Station?) was broken. And helpdesk initially insisted that I clear my cookies and reset my router <sigh>.
