*READ FIRST* Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, Trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Still have this problem, not getting any better. Also got another one now, that's HSPA switching to 3G and then not sending/receiving data. Which forces me to reconnect.

I think you'll find it's the other way round, it's switching from HSPA to 3G because you are not sending or receiving any data.

Can you post tracerts or nslookups when this happens?

This is what I see when it happens, according to MDMA I'm not connected anymore, but windows shows that I'm still connected.
When I do a tracert to www.myadsl.co.za I get this long pause, followed by an unable to resolve error.

The only way to get connected again is disconnect via windows, and then closing/opening MDMA.

So how long are these updates supposed to take? I now get a little light blue light with no throughput. Posting this while forcing the modem to Edge.

The company I work for, everybody provided with Vodacom modems are all having the same issue.

Been a couple of weeks now. Previously it was at least African standard of getting throughput once in a while. Now nothing.

As of April 7th evening the 3G radio on cell 11702 doesn't appear to be functioning. I'm currently receiving 3G/HSDPA signal on my modem via cell 32051, though lower signal strength. I think the GPRS/EDGE radios *might* also be faulty as by Blackberry 9300 switches from EDGE to no signal. Setting it 3G only allows it to pick up the lower signal on the other tower, but moving around the house drops that signal as it is weaker than the one close by was.

Kindly repair ASAP.

I've had it for ages in Sandton. Connect to Vodacom on HSDPA, and after a minute or two, it switches to UMTS, and is disconnected.
 
3G signal just vanished

In the Steynsrus area. Hopefully it's only a temp thing, will see if it comes back later.
 
I would love to have vodacom fix their bloody network :mad: over an hour it was down, 1555 was unavailable and my threads were either deleted or locked.
Thank you Ocleroux once again for letting me know what was going on. 082111 was also taking forever to answer, just in case anyone here was also experiencing issues.
It was or still is a general faull in Gauteng south. Very difficult to post details as network is up and down.
My gripe is stop wating billions on sport and rebranding and fix the degraded network.
Also blackberry is dead slow

There are some network upgrades that was scheduled for the Region and we are aware of the blackberry issues as well,It is being attended to.

3G back up again, also I'm posting this on Roaming Edge during the day, something I've been unable to do for quite a while so it seems my problems have mostly been resolved.

Blackberry issues are a disgrace sir, it seems as if you guys are doing this on purpose.
How is it that MTN blackberry is much better, faster, more reliable? ( was with them for 2 yrs)
On Vodacom, BBM, browsing is basically up to crap.
I wonder how much longer this will go on in terms of the CPA or has Vodacom lawyers already found loopholes?

The tower was repaired, but BIS services seem to be stuffed now. Only not working when I am home, and works fine when I'm away from home.

Is the BIS on a tower independent of normal data services?

Shows 3G with Blackberry symbol but I can't access any data services at all (sending mail / BBM only shows clock symbol, browser times out, other apps go on loading forever) though I receive emails intermittently;
Ping and DNS lookup doesn't work on blackberry.net APN but does on internet APN;
Diagnostic test: ICMP Ping Echo - No, Blackberry registration - no, everything else - abort.

On my BB9300 it only picks up 3G and GSM (even if I use 2G mode). On my modem it picks up EDGE but I'm unable to connect on EDGE. 3G/HSPA works fine on modem.

why no network access vodacom?

on vodacom prepaid. based in hout bay, oakhurst estate.
could not make/receive any calls (including emergency) or surf net from approx 02h15 this morning, 21/4/2011. :@

why?

would appreciate explanation from vodacom rep. thanks.
 
There was planned work done in Houtbay and surrounds , but was done at around 7am
 
There has been no GPRS/EDGE in Pretoria today? Can't connect on my BlackBerry at all. It only says GSM, no data services.

3G is working fine though.

EDIT: it's been sorted out now. I can now connect on my BB via GPRS/EDGE. Everything back to normal.

please clarify:
- but was DONE at around 7am or but was COMPLETED...?

anyway, how dare vodacom cut us off like this, without any prior warning, especially when doing "PLANNED" work?

an SMS the day before would suffice or a simple message, such as "down4maint" could be displayed (during downtime) - in place of the usual network info - especially when emergency calls are NOT going to be possible at all, and for over 5 hours!

in case vodacom doesn't know it, some of us don't have a telkom line and/or more than one service provider - and emergencies do happen, often between 2am and 7am!
 
The whole day I have no internet at all, nothing nada ziltch..... Im in Heidelberg Gauteng. Currently still nothing. Have tried every place in my home. Whats going on ?
