Might not be the greatest, but that Webafrica deal for R499 on Openserve looks enticing. Even the 100Mbps deal for R699 (which is more than I am paying for my 50Mbps on Vox/Vrotvoet).

Yoh, how do they make any money? Most other ISPs go for 1.3-1.4k for 500Mbit o_O

Yeah they offering 10MB/s so they can make the other packages more expensive.
It's silly to have 10MB/s packages. And they all jump on the bandwagon the moment they see it works as always.... colluding legally xD

No metro fiber deals
Both Metrofibre and SADV absent :(
In fairness, the article did not say that it was about the most expensive FTTH, but the cheapest. @Jan maybe not a bad idea to have one on "The most expensive FTTH providers", where they are interviewed and get to explain just how come their pricing is so over the top.

I am currently paying R797/month for a 50Mbps/50Mbps plan with Afrihost & Octotel. So I saw on this article, dated 3 Dec 2021, that RSAWEB & Octotel offers a 200Mbps/200Mbps plan for R795/month. I therefore went and checked on the RSAWEB site but there it was priced at R1125/month. I then reached out to RSAWEB and they confirmed that that it was a summer special that ended in November already when Black Friday started. Maybe a heads-up to MyBB to double-check these articles before they post them, times are tough and we are all looking for a well priced deal, so we rely on platforms like MyBB.

I have a 100/100 uncapped fiber connection on Vuma and pay R950 p/m. Good value for money, as my connection is uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled. Usage is around 10TB+ per month. Never been slowed down, always reaching line speed. All devices like smartphones, Tablets, Computer and Laptop, streaming Youtube and Netflix @ 4K... more than happy with the service I get.

MFN is one of the more expensive networks, and we hope they actually bring down the pricing a bit so us ISP's can follow.

Also nobody has mentioned but there are a ton of smaller FNO's out there that are offering some crazy specials, one example being Hyperhood which we are on. We have been running a 25/25 Mbps for R199 for the past year (6 month from signup) special. There have also been a few small town related rollouts around KZN with similar results on pricing specials.

With the larger networks, you won't see to many specials unless there are some seasonal (like black friday, cyber monday) type of events.

MFN recently doubled the speed but kept the price the same - but they are still more expensive than the rest

Thats their pricing, the ISP's on MFN are trying to keep it as low as possible, we sell the 50/50 for R899 and the 200/200 for R1299. So I wouldn't go off Metrofibres own ISP for pricing.

Sure - sorry, I was just using your reference to MFN as a response to their pricing

Oh yeah 100% they are pricey and we would love them to drop our pricing so we can drop ours. Will probably have a chat with the KZN people at MFN, since we are also trying to push for them to drop the 300/300 and make it 500/500 and then the overall price decrease on the packages. Worth a shot.
