We've received a network notice for upgrades taking place this evening (later than the earlier etas). During the work performance may worsen and an outage may occur.

Apologies for the inconvenience, although I am sure the upgrades are welcomed.

A more comprehensive post to follow when I am not on a nearly flat phablet.

Can't wait to be back with CW at the end of January. But for now I am chugging along at 40KB/s max on my 3G uncapped LOL.

Can't stream Supersport on CW tonight. Won't even start. Had to revert to Afrihost Capped. Not sure what I am paying R800pm for.

Can't stream YouTube on anything over 360p either. (10mbps account/line). I assume/hope it's because of the upgrades taking place tonight. Paul?

Youtube and HTTP downloads are also dead for me.

World of Warcraft seems to be running perfectly (Better than it has on all my other ISPs) but that's so far the only thing running correctly.

Just popping in to say 2 things: Firstly, my account is awesome, as always :) WoW has been bliss to play and I am looking forward to raiding without issues tomorrow night :)

Secondly: A website that is good for some interesting news articles had some people conversing on the front page this evening with regards to NextGenNews having authentication issues. So if people are struggling to get their daily news fix, this is why.

That would be our working assumption

Getting some feedback in the morning - with proper diagnostic information would be ideal

As always I await Murphy on these things ...

What is up with Crystal Web? Getting about 40kb/s from Steam download.

Sigh. Please can we get some feedback already. We made a good-faith decision to stay with CW during the November difficulties, and it's now December already. That's now 2 premium payments already. I understand if there are external factors causing it, but don't go quiet on the forums. This is a lot of money we've paid so far, and we're not really getting what we paid for yet.

I apologise for my being AWOL the last week or so. It has been a very busy time trying to get things all sorted and running perfectly for everyone, and it has resulted in some considerable travel. In future we will leave a second rep in charge of managing the forum, which on this occasion I did, but it seems he was a little intimidated and scared to post anything.

Network upgrades were delayed, and were completely out of our control. The process began a few weeks back, and one of the major overhauls took place last night. We are seeing better performance, but we still need final confirmation from upstream of the changes and performance increases. It has become increasingly difficult to disclose specifics as we too are bound by confidentiality in this respect, which is a commercial tenet we take seriously.

However a large portion of our time in management this last week has been spent securing performance increases across the board, irrespective of the upstream changes. While I know this sounds like a vague statement to make, more details are to follow with a direct mail to customers in the coming days. We will release more information about this as soon as we can, but ultimately the goal is to remove the variable of upstream changes resulting in degraded performance for extended periods. Our proposed changes will be the basis for a pretty revolutionary change in the market and how we provision internet access to customers. As many will attest to, when performance issues drag on for periods deemed unacceptable by us (and our customers) we take drastic and often very expensive steps to resolve them, and this time is no different. However performance across the board should be drastically improving now as we receive confirmation of the various network upgrades from upstream.

Great, thanks for the update :) Waiting anxiously for more good news when you have it.

My packet loss is back.
It was faultless for a few days.

@CW

What can we expect in performance after last nights upgrade?

I'm on a capped account, P2P, general updates and gaming that is what I do.

I apologise for my being AWOL the last week or so.

Thanks for the update. It's been an incredibly stressful time for us, I can only imagine what it's like for you. Thank goodness all this drama happened before your proper launch!

They are launched.

Has anyone noticed an improvement yet?
I teamviewed into my home PC and tried a test HTTP download but it's hovering between 60-80kB/s
