Shaun, any feedback regarding my NNTP issue?

Call om me imminent.

So I've been experiencing something weird lately.

Some sites I browse (Outlook in particular) is really slow all the time. Also, If I try to load images from lets say 9gag and google images, it takes forever. Other sites however I have no problem and downloads are great.

Is this at all possible?

We did see this with a few customers - should have been resolved now. If not, do a power cycle to allow the new changes to filter though, then get hold of support so we know about it and can investigate properly as well. :)

Any improvement in gaming latencies CW, specifically Star Trek Online? Or did I miss the post?

Just wanted to commend the CW support staff on their service. Whereas other ISPs will barely acknowledge a support request within 48hrs, CW responded, investigated and kept me informed at regular intervals without my even prompting them. Much appreciated!

Got to agree - support is a breath of fresh air!

Hey guys,

We are going to be processing some upgrades on the support desk today from 5pm onward, so live support by chat will be offline from this time until 10am tomorrow morning.

We'll still be doing email support during normal support hours though, so just drop us a mail, or use the live support function to leave a message and it will submit to our support systems automatically.

Still experiencing this unfortunately, getting a bit frustrating. Imgur for example is dog slow, as is image loading in general. Makes browsing reddit an exercise in frustration, as 98% of images there are hosted on Imgur. If I use Flipboard on my Ipad, I have to read stories without the images coming up as they take too long and don't load before I flip a page.

Edit: I do have an open ticket with support on the matter by the way, hence my need to mention it here as you said it was resolved and from my side, it's definitely still a big problem. Pretty much the only thing holding me back from signing up with CW permanently at the moment. Love the NNTP server, love instant streaming - but browsing is really sub par for me at the moment, as is anything depending on http like Ubuntu updates, etc.

Works fine for me

I'm glad :)

But it's night and day for me. Clear cache, open some images on imgur - very very slow download times. Redial with Webafrica, clear cache, open same images - lightning fast. Redial with CW, clear cache, open same images - still slow.

Test with another ISP maybe?

As I said in my reply - I can clearly tell the difference when switching between WA and CW. My long standing Afrihost backup capped account also has no problems with http speeds and images. Wish I knew what was going on.

I had the same problem, all I did was change my primary DNS in network settings to CW's DNS & the problem was solved.

I'm not overriding DNS though, either on my machine or my router - so I should be using CW's DNS.

Besides that though - DNS will only affect the initial lookup time - the slowdown occurs on the actual loading of an image, when it has already resolved with the DNS.

So when will we know about this symmetrical network thingy? Will you ever fix the issues with single-thread HTTP on the Cybersmart backbone? I'd like to see something before the 24th so I can make up my mind about what I'm going to do about internet this year.

Great thanks. I will do so.

Just downloaded a driver for my new printer.

Single threaded, HTTP download, from downloadcenter.samsung.com

Flat out full line speed!
