*READ FIRST* Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, Trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Vodacom 3G Throttled In Krugersdorp

I am also currently connected but the speed in my area is still a nightmare. I did a test and went out of my area with my laptop and the speeds in the other area was fine. That confirmed that the poblem is in my area. VC's 155 has sent me a ref nr in the mean time and that is where I am now. Nowhere:mad:

This is sooooooooooooo frustrating. I am battling to do just about anything on the Internet and my web design business is standing still.
 
Day 4 Same S h i t!!

1) Location: Tower 11192 & 11197
2) Time of issue: 10:00 - The last 4 days
3) Device: Hauwei E220
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): pre-paid
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: What's the use, they just tell you install the latest firmware. I have the latest firmware! It's a vodacom network issue. Sort it out and provide the service we pay for!
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible): Not possible, too slow.

Day 6 - DNS server not respondong

2) Time of issue: 14:50 - The last 6 days
3) Device: Hauwei E220
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): pre-paid
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: What's the use, they just tell you install the latest firmware. I have the latest firmware! It's a vodacom network issue. Sort it out and provide the service we pay for!

Upload phails

Hi, I tried to email a large 4mb attachment to some printing company a few days ago and re tried it tonight, I can't seem to be able to succesfully send or even upload to megaupload/megashares/rapidshare.com

we're on the vodacom hsdpa network so the speed should be there but we just get up to 18-40% and the thing slows down to zero KBPS

anyone notice this on their pc's running vodacon simcards?

Yeah, a few of us, or rather, quite a few of us. Start reading from here. No word from VC on the matter yet. I'm done waiting, switched to an MTN sim last week and have had no problems since. The move literally saved my job.

Day 7 - Still not fixed - Still no word from vodacom

A whole week without 3g! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this was any other country outside of Africa vodacom would be out of business!
Maybe you should hire competent people who actually know what wtf they're doing!

For at leat the last 2 weeks we have had almost no 3G in the Cresta area. I connect fine but after that it either fails to resove the host or I get a connection to a site but get no data coming back. Out of office hours everything works fine and now and then during the day for 30 seconds or so you would suddenly have decent speeds again but it only lasts for a short while.

It is not only me but everyone here on Vodacom 3G.

Thanks I got my ref on the 17th and a message "your query is in hand with high level engineering......."

Not a word after that and still no 3G.

Yeah my query is also with the so called "High Level Engineering". I now have a total of 3 issues outstanding. It seems to be getting worse by the day.

1. Regular 3G signal loss since July 2009.
2. Since last week the speeds in my area has declined to such an extent that I cannot even FTP anymore to my clients' domains.
3. Tonight a new issue arised where I have full 3G signal, but data only gets sent but none received. It works fine (send/receive) on GPRS however and when I pop in a MTN sim all is fine.

I keep on phoning 155 about these issues, but literally nothing gets done about it and I keep on receiving ref nrs from them. I actually do not know who to turn to anymore. My web design business has come to a grinding halt because of Vodacom.:mad::mad::mad:

Yesw, I know the feeling. It's 6 am now and I can't get to anything on 3G. I starting to think about canceling my contract at this point
 
Arrgghhh, is it just me or has VC 3g been really **** lately? Usually I would say it's about 50/50 and I can live with that... I just recently bought a 2.7 gig bundle and for the last 2 weeks, it's been nothing but gprs all the ffdalsfdjaling way....... really annoying, :(

I have some really important files to download but I'll probably never finish that bundle, it's just way too annoying to work with.
 
Is Vodacom down atm?

I use my phone at home as a modem to connect to the intarwebz, last night I could'nt get on at all, proxy errors and server busy errors. I gave up and thought I'll just try today, but same story, can't even get onto Vodacom Live via 3g. I'm in Sandton, is this a general problem or perhaps my phone is just full of carp? :confused:
 
I'm having problems accessing Standard Bank's web site, so it looks like there might be some local problems.
 
Also had trouble accessing Standard Bank this morning. Took forever to go through, and eventually only half loaded the website.
 
Since this morning unable to connect to any FTP servers (local or international) network drops the connection immediately. Happening on unrestricted and internet apn's, also with command line ftp. Problem still ongoing. Anyone else experiencing this?

International FTP is working for me on unrestricted.
 
Anyone else having slow international today? Local sites seem to be working fine.
 
Hi nuyork, definitely something wrong ... started about 2 hours ago and I have confirmation from others they are also experiencing this. Must be a Telkom link down or something.
