Maybe you guys should move to Cape Town, my 3G is rocking every night when I get home, then again maybe you will bring your problems with you, so best you stay there :p

@Steinie I know you have done your bit for reporting issues. The rest of you, details as per the first post please and/or PM VodacomData.

Thank you

Thanks to Morkhans & VodacomData. Though no one from Vodacom has phoned yet, I can see a drastic improvement in the bandwidth. Thank you for listening and helping. All thumbs up. ;)

My connection is fine so you most likely have a localised issue with your tower which is best reported to 155 otherwise read the first post and post the required info.

Vodacom 3G issues in the Sandton area

Hello...

I am having issues connecting on to the 3G network. I only seem to get connected to the GPRS network and then after a few minutes the connection drops. Last night at home i was perfectly browsing at HSDPA speeds.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes I have the same problem this whole week in the Midrand - Halfway House Area. I'm not the only one. In the Vodacom Mobile Connect Lite you can see how the connection keeps on jumping around from GPRS to HSUPA the whole time and sometimes droppes. I can see on my mobile also how it changes from towers or something the whole time. 3G modem connects but connecting to a site is a no success. When I come home to Centurion, all works perfect. So what is happening ?

(O, I'm using the works internet (Telkom) to post this)

Hi There is a Fibre break between Midrand and Sunninghill , this could be causing your problem.

Are there 3G issues in the Cape Town Brackenfell area? Our offices are very close to the tower, signal excellent, yet this morning the data throughput is very poor, data packet loss extremely high...

Ping results to a local CT based server:

Ping statistics for 41.204.200.114:
Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 38, Lost = 62 (62% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 108ms, Maximum = 623ms, Average = 193ms

Having major problems with disconnects all of yesterday and today (Parow East) ...
Anyone else experiencing frequent disconnects?

Anyone else experiencing problems in Somerset West area? My father having trouble connecting to the Faure tower (63901/63906), he is getting "Error 678: The remote computer is not responding".

It was still a problem this morning so I called 155 and gave them the mobile number and cell ID and they told me everything was fine; SIM registered, bundle active, no problems indicated on their side. My father tried again now and he was able to connect without a problem.

South Africa Ranked 90th On Netindex.com

Just had a look at this service from Ookla (Speedtest.net) it's called NetIndex.com It compares the various countries in the world in terms of their Internet speeds.

When I did a check, South Africa ranked at 90th in the world in terms of speed. There are some North African countries that ranks higher than us.

Why are we still one of the most expensive countries in the world when it get's to the Internet if our results are so poor? I am still paying R169/Gb for my Vodacom 3G/HSDPA access without any choice, because due to the copper theft in my area Telkom refuses to supply me with an ADSL line.

WTF!!!!????

Well I havnt been able to connect to Vodacom for the last two days, they went and disrupted Gogga Connects service so now i have no internet connection thru my HSDPA modem.
Least Gogga Connect is fighting back and even giving us all 50MB free data if we register on their forum and explain how it has affected our internet connection and held us from doing our work.
