thanks for the response and feedback. I have had a look again at the Vodacom Coverage map and now that you have mentioned the Bashewa Tower it appears that this could be true. Data coverage is up to the Bashewa side of the R25. If hope Vodacom can also confirm that the Welbekend Tower is not 3G enabled. I will go out there again and measure the Signal with a Yagi pointing toward the Bashewa Tower - will provide feedback once this is complete.

Hey guys , anyone having ping problems in the Centurion Area? I know they undertaking Upgrades in gauteng but according to thier website PTA isnt affected yet.
 
Also having problems in the centurion area. No service currently. Eldoraigne area. Anyone experiencing the same? I have phoned 155 and the agent confirmed that eldoraigne is one of the affected areas. Very weird as my blackberry internet is still working fine.
 
I am in Paulshof and have been having slow service all night. Not only that I was at a client in Lynden earlier and the same there...
I don't understand! My Nokia E52 only shows Edge so I popped my sim into my internal 3.5G modem in my notebook and the signal then shows, HSPA but I get really slow responses and on sites and some sites do not load at all.
I had a very similar problem at the end of last month ( just when I wanted to use up my left over bandwidth) and was told to disable 3G on my devices so they pretty much only connect at EDGE, a couple of days later it was ok again.
The other thing is my 3G on my Nokia doesn't seem to disconnect properly,it shows that it is always in an authentication state, however this is only in some areas around JHB.

What is going on??

Just as a side note, at my client in Lynden their iBurst was also showing the same gremlins, makes me think...
 
Voda 3G has been poor lately, regular disconnections, no data received. Robindale/Linden area. Have to redial to get it working again
 
In Kempton Park and have struggled since yesterday with very slow speeds and disconections.

Anyone know whether they are working on the towers/network?
 
Anyone in the far western edge of Ranpark Ridge having issues? I've been getting sporadic hsdpa signal, and now it's off completely. The amount I spend on data is obscene, I'm slowly getting fed up with Vodacom, and I'm going to have to make another plan.
 
I live in Randpark Ridge and work in Paulshof. Pretty much haven't had signal the entire day - that'll teach me for getting 4x Vodacom SIMs :/

As I mentioned in another post, 12 months ago I got HSDPA through my house (2+mbps on tests). That's dropped over the months to where the best part of the house gets 500-800kpbs and most thw house is GPRS ie unusable.

Haven't had Blackberry service from yesterday afternoon either.

The only thing Voda hasn't fscked up recently is voice.
 
Aaah, thanks Dolby, I was going to start troubleshooting the modem. So do we just pray for signal? Phoning Vodacom does you no good whatsoever. I'm actually back in the stone age with a gprs connected MTN phone at the moment. At least this has helped me make up my mind, I going to get a fixed line installed, and just use Vodacom as backup. Until then I do need to send a few e-mails, so please, please get me online for a little while Vodacom!

Fed up.... again!!!

I have been a loyal Vodacom customer for 4 years, generally things are good but every now and then I have to put my foot in my mouth!

It seems that every time Voda decides to do changes/upgrade they mess it up badly, last time went on for weeks and the day I was applying for access through another provider it came right ironically I stayed with them (worst part for me is I am tied into a contract with no service level agreement which Voda is not delivering on).

I have had problems from Kyalami, one of my colleagues is having exactly the same issue from Fourways.... since Sunday. Modem has full signal (set to 3G Preferred), connects but no throughput, and when there is anything coming back latency is between 150ms and 1500ms (huge jitter) last time I ended up with a heavy internet bill due to the drops and re-sending data (standard tcp behaviour) BE WARNED YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THIS!!
 
Exactly what I've been getting too (connected at HSDPA with no throughput)

My mom just called (she lives a few km further in Boskruin) and hers is doing the same thing
 
Looks like it's doing it all over the country.

And I'm trying my utmost to download the Playstation 3 3.50 update, with 3D Blu-Ray support....it just times out. *sniff*

I got a timeout doing the same thing, must be something wrong with the download at present, doubt its just Vodacom...

SNAKEPIT!! Long time no see. :)

I think the 3.50 update only became available late last night, so all PS3 owers are trying to update their PS3s - and it's not just the gamers, a lot of people bought PS3s to get a blu-ray player....and now they can do 3D with it! Super.
 
Argh - so frustrated with this connection.

I spent R1,000pm at Vodacom for broadband and - although I never hit 1mpbs - hope for something stable. Tomorrow I need to take my assignment through to work incase (and quite likely) Vodacom is off for 3rd day.

Mine is back to normal .... my PS3 can now play 3D blu-rays. :)
