*READ FIRST* Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, Trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

I live in Sonstraal Heights in Cape Town (Durbanville), and somehow every night between 18:00 and 22:00 (maybe 22:30), the internet is shocking. It is so slow that speedtest.net doesn't even register, or goes 1999+ lag, 0.05mbs download, and 0.11 upload.

Point is, it seems to be an issue surrounding CAPACITY. All the suburban yuppies come home on their blackberries and download videos on it. Or something, I dunno, but the point is, because it can be RELIABLY replicated, it would seem to me to be a capacity issue.

Could you please fix, I want to be able to play games, and the ping makes it impossible.
 
Vodacom BIS are down again - oh well ... , may as well buy myself an iPhone and pay for data from the cheapest carrier ...
 
Hi All

This is an update to yesterdays problem.

Yesterday we experienced a problem with voice & SMS in parts of Sandton, Midrand and South Gauteng. 3G data was not affected.
The good news is that the problem has been fixed and voice and SMS services are coming back online. There may be some congestion as we get everything back up and running.

Update: As of last week Friday, the Vodacom tower that I can see from my house is permanently down on the 3G side of things. Both my parents have Internet Starter packs, and neither sim is allowed to connect using the default Vodacom dash because there's no signal throughput. The signal's there alright, but it jumps up and down all the time, ranging from -89db all the way to -125db when monitoring using MDMA. Both Cell C and MTN have superior speeds and far better reliability.

On my cellphone things are worse, no throughput and my sim actually gets rejected by the tower at least twice a week. All the non-BB phones here display this behavior.

Customers may experience intermittent problems with Calls and Data via 2G & 3G in Southern Gauteng South, 5 Base Stations out of service on KR12 (Krugersdorp)
 
Certain BB Customers are experiencing problems connecting to the internet and intermittent problems with some BB services. Network Management are investigating.
 
Vodacom in Primrose Hill area is going down hill big time... If I get 50% of calls i am lucky.. I now have 8ta (MTN Roaming) to get my calls.. also bought MTN products.. which took a week to deliver as they could not get hold of me on my Vodacom number.. (silly me giving them my vodacom number) well it has been with me since 2000 so good for reference.... ho well contracts are ending soon.. MTN i will be looking at you for service.... PLEASE Vodacom get your act together ! It is really frustrating having this CR@P internet connection ! I'm battling to open pages, I'm trying to download a big file and it keeps failing after it has downloaded a big portion. This is a joke but nevermind .... let the poor customer waste his data bundle .... the quicker its finished the quicker the customer will have to buy new bundle !!!!! WHY must I waste my bundle because of a CR@P connection. I have tried with different simcards.... NO LUCK !

Customers may experience problems with the network in Nelspruit due to several base stations being down. The problem is in hand with Network Management.

Anyone else receiving EXTREMELY slow upload speeds in Lonehill area?

Skype has become completely unusable.
 
No connection at all, Athlone, Cape Town. using adsl to post this. Grrrr. shows H + but there is no connection. Watchdog says no data either. Samsung Galaxy $2

I can't access any international sites this morning.

I can access MyBroadband.co.za, but it is very slow and browser shows it is still connecting to googlesyndication.com and facebook.com.
I managed to start loading the page at news24.com, but browser shows connecting to doubleclick.net and google-analytics.com.

Edit: after several minutes the news24.com page loaded.
 
Anyone else having problems with vodacom international connectivity ?
Some pages open , some dont at all and then some partially.
Facebook does not open at all.
Skype also not going online.

Working now.
 
Extremely slow 3G speeds in Kestel, Freestate. 14-20 kb/s.

Just visting, but it the problem seems to have been here for a while.
