Nick, I suggest you PM VodacomData directly. VodacomData is the official rep for Vodacom here.

VodacomData is not responding to PMs, I PM'ed him nearly a week ago about speed connection issues with full details and breakdown of information and issue, no reply yet.

I am learning to live with this sort of result now, see below

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1050182662.png

I think VodacomData has left the building... I also PM'd him 2 weeks ago and heard nothing. Then I called in and was PROMISED someone would phone me back within 24 hours. That was last week... still waiting... Do they care? I doubt it.

Vodacom 3g down in Witpoortjie, Roodepoort: nobody at Vodacom attends to problem

Anyone from Vodacom please assist.

The Vodacom tower on the corner of Mcgrath Avenue and Payne streets Witpoortjie Roodepoort has had no 3g internet connectivity for 10 days now.

I have reported this 4 times to broadband services and they keep on saying it will be attended to in due course.

I have also been told that Vodacom is short-staffed as many technicians are on leave and will only be returning to work early next year.

I'm highly p....ed off as we use Vodacom 3g for business use mainly and our business is situated right adjacent to this tower.

Furthermore I ported my number from MTN to Vodacom recently hoping that I would get better service and needless to say I have not and am seriously thimking of porting back to MTN or changing to Cell C.

An additional problem is visual voicemail is no longer functional on my iphone 4 which was reported 3 weeks ago and the only comeback I have had is that networks must change my platform from 51 to 49 or whatever. Nothing has happened.

What is going on Vodacom?

Anyone else having problems in the Upper Highway, Kloof / Forrest Hills / Waterfall area? Vodafone TV on demand / DSTV mobile will not load or play or returning server cannot be reached messages, USSD codes will not operate, SMS's will not send and data speeds are PATHETIC with pings running in the region of 900ms!!!

Please, someone, anyone, please do something, its been over a week now!

3G HSPA services problematic here:

--> BIS sluggish after for the last two days (on BB9300);
--> No throughput on 3G HSPA last night (on E172); EDGE was working though.

NB: Couldnn't post this last night because even EDGE was very slow.

Have there been any issues in the Linden area again ?

Could not connect the whole day yesterday with my 3G modem but my phone seemed to work fine.

Random network deregistrations

Hi Guys,

Over the past week or so I've randomly ended up being 'disconnected' from the Vodacom network - basically I'm simply deregistered from the base station.

I assumed it was location related but I've now seen it across Northgate, Cresta and Honeydew areas.

Has anyone else experienced this?

(Note this is not a 'my 3g disconnects type issue - its the fact that the phone is COMPLETELY deregistered from the VC network, so no calls etc)

I have noticed something similar in the Wendywood/Gallomanor area in Johannesburg. A friend of mine lives there ane when I visit her place my Blackberry will all of a sudden say "Sim Registration failed". I then have to reboot the phone for it to pick up signal again, even after leaving the bad reception area.

I've been seeing the same thing since I upgraded to my HTC Desire.

My phone reports "Limited Service" and there is a cross where the signal bars normally are. All inbound calls go directly to voicemail and I can't make any outbound calls or use data services.

It doesn't seem to resolve on its own. I turn the phone to flight mode and then back to normal mode and it solves the problem.

A 33 page thread is a death sentence to a post....

By merging my new thread into this one it's basically guaranteed to be dead in the water. This basically removes the usefulness of the forum as a place to share/gain knowledge.

As specifically indicated this problem has less to do with "speed tests" etc as per post one in this thread.

Actually it's not. There are Vodacom people who use the thread subscription feature to monitor certain threads. So while they are not active on the forum they will receive a notification when a new post is made. So in fact there is a much better chance that it will add value here than a new thread.

If they were still actively involved and not on leave yes. I've reported it to Vodacom - my point was that I wanted input/feedback/comments from Joe Public...

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate what you do as moderator on here (was mod in mybb in another life) - its just that doing something like this in my mind reduces the effectiveness of the forum.

I'll wait to see if there's an actual response from anyone Vodacom related before making up my mind.

This is the thread to report network issues and get input from other people as well. As you can see two people have already offered their input.

Having individual threads all reporting connectivity issues simply creates clutter.

Bad Serivce

I dont know what to say anymore, except that i am utterly disgusted with the level of service, and lack of communication i am getting from vodacom. i appreciate that a gent who looks after the twitter feed phoned me back, but i am not satisfied with what vodacom is doing about this issue we been having since the beginning of November.
I cannot believe that i am the only one experiencing problems in the area. Resarting a phone every 5 minutes to get signal is also not acceptable(Dont Blame the phone, as it works 100% when we not at home). I cannot believe that its taken 2 months to get NOWHERE with this issue.

Network Problems - Durban Sunningdale area

Vodacom

Currently i get kicked off mxit every 2 minutes and cannot reconnect. i lose signal , get connection errors when making calls an unable to send/recieve text messages , but soon as i leave the area to go to gateway for example , i recieve all my messages an i dont think getting 9 or so text messages within 1 minute is normal unless they r backed up on the server as i cud nt recieve them.

is anyone else in the sunningdale area having similar issues ?

Tried 4 phones with 2 different sim cards. not tried a different providor but cud that be a solution maybe ?

Hi All

Please be aware that there is a major fibre break in the midrand area, affecting multiple links. Fault is being attended to by MCT and Telkom. Details will be forwarded as they come in.

Anyone else in the Little Falls, Roodepoort area having problems with Vodacom 3G?

Vodacom throttling SMTP traffic (Port 25)?

Muckleneuk, Pretoria.
After first blasting my hosting provider the last few days, I can confirm that it is the 3G outgoing mail that is the issue at times.

This morning was fine, until around midday, then it started again :-
Incoming POP3 mail retrieval is fine, but 451 "your server reported internal error" on SMTP send.

The problem is NOT with the hosting provider - under these conditions I can happily send via a Telkom connection, check this out :-

On personal laptop, Create email/reply etc as normal, hit send.
Uhm, errors agaiin . . . save as outlook message in DropBox folder.

Switch machines and load message from work laptop DropBox folder.
(Yep, that is via the internet and back again - the marvels of modern science)
Send - using same SMTP account settings without errors.
So Telkom isn't throttling me, just Vodacom.

It tends to come right again toward the evening, but must be really annoying if you are just-another-user out there without two connections.
