*READ FIRST* Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, Trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Still no Edge, and 3G is as slow (or slower than) as Edge...

Wife is on Voda as well, with non 3G Blackberry, as soon as you drive bout a kilometer away, picks up Edge, messages come through...

Any plans to improve signal in Montana?
It really is a hassle, was thinking of getting the new 2g + 2g deal, but now put off...

Maybe Cell C... Anyone have success with that in this area?

Slow Connection Pretoria

Anyone know of anything wrong in the Pretoria area? My internet through Vodacom is crawling tonight. Tested 2 sim cards, 1 in a 3g modem and one in a phone, both are extremely slow.

I have confirmed that there were problems in Rustenburg last night.Nothing reported for Pretoria though.
 
For the last 3 nights the internet is totally unusable, and no on at the vodacom call centre seems interested in providing me with any help

This connection is on GPRS with the device stating that i have a "Very Good Connection status four bars"
I am experiencing constant "dead" connections with no data throughput for minutes at end, I have to disconnect and then i will get data throughput for roughly 20mins and then the cycle starts all over again.
3G signal is also constantly dropping with two bars on device status.

Please help as this is my only way of getting online in my area, and it's very painful.

Cellphone and edge coverge degraded ?????? What Gives???

For the past month now my cell reception especially my edge reception keeps going down in the centurion area especially in rooihuiskraal area , has been working fine for years until now cannot surf the net on my blackberry and when i make calls i can hear you but it keeps stuttering badly for the person on the other side??? please fix your tower ????? as 3g works fine ????
 
No 3G for 2 weeks

I haven't had 3G on my phone for almost 2 weeks now. That weekend there were problems with Vodacom all over the country and I had no service for several hours during their problems. When the service came back on I had Edge and I have not had anything more since then.

This is not just at home but anywhere in Joburg that I have been, from the N14 in the west to Edenvale in the east and anywhere in between.

I've had this sort of thing with Vodacom before. Their immediate response is to tell me the problem is on my end (they never take responsibility for their own problems and it has never been actually on my end) and I just don't have the energy to call and fight with them for hours on end until I get a manager and a solution.

Anyone know how else I could do this easily without the headache? Anyone else had any similar problem?
 
SLOW connection (Boskruin area)

For the last week my speeds average between 5-25k...... :confused::sick:

Is there a general problem in the area?

Last 48 hours hardly any throughput. Like a comment above is it really worth reporting? Somethings changed in the Boskruin area. Do these guys route traffic according to load? If the towers broke they'd know about it IMO. After Cell C I thought I was thru with writing comments in these forums :mad:

Did a small download last night and was flying between 80-180k! Maybe all the rain dusted the towers off? :love: :D
 
Vodacom Data Connection- Tempory network Problem

HI is anyone else having an issue with their data connection with vodacom. I keep receiving a temporary network problem when i try to connect to the internet. I have changed sim cards to check that its not my phone and my other vodacom sim card works fine.

Is there an issue or is it only my number?

1) Location: Constantia Valley
2) Time of issue: Since 7:00 this morning
3) Device: Nokia E66
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): Contract
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: NO reference number
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible): NO

I also called 155 and they sent me new APN and i tried using the APN Internet.Vodacom and i still get the same error :"Packet Data: Temporary network problem"

This has been happening when i was in centurion too.

VC please give me what i've paid for + do not waste my time.
I've downloaded FF 4 now and received a corrupt file cos of D/L speed that stars at 200KB and within sec it drops down to zero.
My downloader did the resume job (5 times) but i've received a corrupt file.
