Like most IT guys I have to do support sometimes and be on standby for clients.
However the last month or so my 3G has been giving me crap in the PTA-North region. I can connect and all is well, however my traffic is 0 up and 0 down.
I cant even ping / tracert to vodacom.co.za or google.com/co.za for that matter. (can show screen shots like the below if needed)
Pinging google.com [74.125.79.104] with 32 bytes of data:

But I have a dark blue light on my modem that isn't blinking and it says I'm connected.
I have logged numerous calls each time it gets fixed and is sorted or a few days.
Then it goes back doing the same, I don't know what to do anymore, when a client phones and tells me there is an issue and I need to connect and this happens ,I have to drive into the office and sort it out.
That is 40km away one way, now if this happens at 3am its pretty @$%#@%$#@% irritating.
I can provide the reference numbers of the last two calls. I have gotten the response that I should just connect 2G but this is not an option as doing remote support in African countries is an issue by itself with 3G an I don't pay for 2G I pay for 3G. This has been working fine up to about a month and a half ago. I really don't know what to do anymore I have had this data contract for close to 5 years now. I'm really considering CellC as doing the PTA ->JHB trip each time I cant connect in the middle of the night SUCKS!!!
This is happening as we speak again, I phoned the call center. I explained to the guy I the issue and got a "eish ,let me find out something and take your details"
After 5min wait I was prompted to give the lvl of satisfaction of my call..... wait what?
Phone once more and asked if I could please speak to a team leader/ manager and yes I was polite about it (seriously I was). All team leaders are currently busy and they will call me back ASAP.
This was an hour ago about.
I'm also getting flack on the turn around of my ticket closing time from the office now. If I can't get this sorted I will have to can my contract with VC that was due for upgrade over a year ago.
VD can you help?
Mods please don't put this under the general issues of connection problems it gets lost in the madness there.

The problem gets better round 3am, but is still slow. At 6am the speed is much better, but still the problem is that I need access at night and not during the day... During the day I can use WiFi...Hi
I experienced exactly the same issue over the weekend and last night. System only gives me 2 bar 3g connection then down to edge and then nothing.
Really annoying.![]()
Hi
Work address is xxx Kent Avenue, Randburg, Johannesburg.
Home is xx 2nd Street, Greymont, Johannesburg
Every time there is a long weekend in Struisbaai Agulhas the cell network here crashes. Damn tourists with the Happy Womens Day messages.
We obviously have a capacity problem. Wouldnt mind if they could look into it. Would call if I could, but I cant even reach my voicemail. I have been reduced to using my cellphone via an open wireless network
