Vodacom 3G Down? (Sandton)

Hi guys

Am trying to connect with a Vodacom 3G device in Sandton CBD. Am getting GPRS only with the corresponding slow speeds. Tried a second modem, same issue.

On chance, did both modems fail at the same time, or is there a network issue. Anyone else having issues?

I am having the same problem in Rosebank CBD. Both my cellphone and datacard is either not connecting or very slow.

It was working this morning, but since about 12pm it is dead.

3G Woes please help VD

Like most IT guys I have to do support sometimes and be on standby for clients.
However the last month or so my 3G has been giving me crap in the PTA-North region. I can connect and all is well, however my traffic is 0 up and 0 down.
I cant even ping / tracert to vodacom.co.za or google.com/co.za for that matter. (can show screen shots like the below if needed)

Pinging google.com [74.125.79.104] with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 74.125.79.104:

Pinging vodacom.co.za [41.1.224.101] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 41.1.224.101: bytes=32 time=3018ms TTL=120

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 1, Lost = 3 (75% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 3018ms, Maximum = 3018ms, Average = 3018ms

But I have a dark blue light on my modem that isn't blinking and it says I'm connected.
I have logged numerous calls each time it gets fixed and is sorted or a few days.
Then it goes back doing the same, I don't know what to do anymore, when a client phones and tells me there is an issue and I need to connect and this happens ,I have to drive into the office and sort it out.
That is 40km away one way, now if this happens at 3am its pretty @$%#@%$#@% irritating.
I can provide the reference numbers of the last two calls. I have gotten the response that I should just connect 2G but this is not an option as doing remote support in African countries is an issue by itself with 3G an I don't pay for 2G I pay for 3G. This has been working fine up to about a month and a half ago. I really don't know what to do anymore I have had this data contract for close to 5 years now. I'm really considering CellC as doing the PTA ->JHB trip each time I cant connect in the middle of the night SUCKS!!!
This is happening as we speak again, I phoned the call center. I explained to the guy I the issue and got a "eish ,let me find out something and take your details"
After 5min wait I was prompted to give the lvl of satisfaction of my call..... wait what?
Phone once more and asked if I could please speak to a team leader/ manager and yes I was polite about it (seriously I was). All team leaders are currently busy and they will call me back ASAP.
This was an hour ago about.
I'm also getting flack on the turn around of my ticket closing time from the office now. If I can't get this sorted I will have to can my contract with VC that was due for upgrade over a year ago.
VD can you help?

Mods please don't put this under the general issues of connection problems it gets lost in the madness there.

Redicilously slow 3G in PTA-East all day

Hi ,

I've been having very slow throughput on my 3g all day on international sites/services , I ran a international speed test and got the following results
0.8mbp/s download
0.9mbp/s up

Normally I have between 3.6mbp/s and 5mbp/s download speed.
I havent phoned customer support because the last time it took them 2 weeks to get back to me on a previous issue I had.

I'm in the Donkerhoek area.

Vodacom at night... Grinds to a halt

I noticed a new trend the past few days. Round about 19H00 at night my 3G is so slow it can't open any pages.

I use my 3G on a iPad so needless to sY I moved around to search for a better connection tower of what ever it is called these days, but no luck. Last night I tried to read my Yahoo mail, but got no luck...

What can I do to speed things up? Move over to a new service provider? Because that seems to be the next logical step for me....

Vodacom at night

Hi

I experienced exactly the same issue over the weekend and last night. System only gives me 2 bar 3g connection then down to edge and then nothing.

Really annoying.

The problem gets better round 3am, but is still slow. At 6am the speed is much better, but still the problem is that I need access at night and not during the day... During the day I can use WiFi...

Looks like its better today , but it seems like the signal gets spikes or maybe there is a packet loss problem. I normally have a 3/4 bar connection. I mostly found that its bad from 19:00 till about 20:45 then it gets better.

I'm too tired of this @$@#$ to fight it anymore. Each time I have to explain everything from the beginning don't know what ticketing system they use, seriously
Last night I called in AGAIN , call center agent said he can see the ticket is open but will ask the guys to call me ASAP.
I'm still waiting for that call................., I phoned them again about an hour ago to which the operator says the techies were here to check signal and its fine.
Thx VC not updating me or a ETA / sms or anything when this will be looked at or fixed or the findings.
I'm canning my data contract tomorrow as well as my voice one and moving to CellC prepaid for data as that actually works here.
Been a loyal VC customer for years and years but ya whatever don't care anymore.
As for my voice I will go to MTN prepaid, I know all the operators got their issues I'm not naive. I'm just tired of VC's and their crappy service.

I can't handle the network problems anymore! Why is this happening :(

For the last 5 days or so everytime my speed drops to EDGE, it can't connect and times out! I don't experience this in Durban! Now I come to Jhb and I get this idiotic problems!!!

Vodacom network borked again.

Every time there is a long weekend in Struisbaai Agulhas the cell network here crashes. Damn tourists with the Happy Womens Day messages.

We obviously have a capacity problem. Wouldnt mind if they could look into it. Would call if I could, but I cant even reach my voicemail. I have been reduced to using my cellphone via an open wireless network
