I had the same issue, does anyone think this might have to do with the new "uncapped" downloads. These would peek between the mentioned hours

HSPA/3G Speeds Low Since Shut Down

I have been battling with my speeds since the shut down on 25 March.

Speedtest.net Result:

Down 0.29Mbs
Up: 0.09Mbs
Ping 167ms

Vodacom Speedtest:

Down 0.99Mbs
Up 0.06Mbs
Ping 123ms

WTF:mad:

Same problem here in Krugersdorp. 3G is on and off the whole day and when on it's very slow.

It's been like this the whole weekend. Just tried to phone 155, but can't even get through due to high call volumes.

I've got a feeling that all these uncapped ADSL offerings are busy braking the Internet in SA:p

Slow Internet Speeds Still Persists In Krugersdorp

I just don't know what to do anymore. The Internet is dog slow here by me and I cannot work properly:

I have phoned Vodacom numerous times by now and they just don't care. They don't even bother to send me ref no's.:mad::mad:

Hi guys,

anyone else having problems with vent through vodacom, vent client says that the ping is in the region of 350 but there are long breaks where i can see the guys talking ( by looking at the icon which shows they're talking but the acctual voice only comes through about 20 secs later ). Been having this problem for about 2-3 days now.

3G signal still switiching to GPRS in Magaliesburg, connection now 'freezes' (no download movement) if there is no activity for a few minutes, I reported it last Wednesday morning and to date no-one has bothered to call or anything, reference number:
S2-5FZ6M-MMTC

Please sort this out Vodacom. Very difficult to work without email!!

3G still not working correctly in Magaliesburg. Received an SMS yesterday saying it was poor signal in my area and I must buy a Poynting antenna but that does not explain why it has worked perfectly for the last year or so without an additional antenna! I am not the only one affected in the area but it appears Vodacom is not that interested!

auckland park by sabc 3G keeps disappearing, randoms disconnection on 3G network, slow on 3G.GPRS and EDGE working well strangely enough.

Good luck to you! I have been complaining since July 2009 and Vodacom has done nothing about the problem so I eventually decided to boot Vodacom and use a MTN sim card until my new ADSL line gets installed.

I lost throughput at around 11:00. I disconnected and then could not reconnect again, despite a full signal and 3G being available. I checked my cellphone and could not connect to Google. (I am within 200m of the Brixton water tower base station.)

I called 155 and reported the problem.

About an hour later, I was again able to connect, but the throughput has been atrocious since then!

And now, I cannot get through to 155, because "we are experiencing high call volumes", which usually translates to "we are in big *****"!! ;)

VodacomData .... any news??

Hi Steinie

I see that you have logged another query to Networks. I am waiting on feedback from them.

Ja, Vodacom is being quite useless this last week. Still no news from Vodacom, as mentioned their excuse is a lack of signal, although it is at 5bar, and has worked perfectly for over a year! When you are not connected it says 3G on the dash. As soon as you connect, it still says 3G, but the moment you have a transfer of data it reverts to GPRS with a R in the corner. Also if you are not having data constantly moving then the connection becomes one sided (i.e. you cannot download). I reported the same problem a while back and they fixed it but now it appears Vodacom can't be bothered. If I had other choices I would change, but they know we are screwed, MTN operates GPRS and we have no phone lines and the sticky fingered ones just take them away!!

I now have no 3G data transfer even though the phone connects to the 3G network Vodacomdata is there something wrong with the network as a whole or certain areas

I am now losing throughput at regular intervals. Disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't always solve the problem. Seems that the network or local base station is very unstable at the moment.
