Its only been the last two days and i have not changed any settings on the handset. Accessed the internet on sunday and could only get on for a while yesterday afternoon. My location is west of JHB. The call centre said there were no problems that they were aware of.

Thanks. Tried the APN. Still not working. Can assume that there are issues with the network? Error message whet trying to connect. Packet data: packet data not available. Check network services.

i've had a similar issue for last few days, when trying to connect and i only have a gprs signal, then it doesn't want to connect...

...but as soon as it has a 3g connection, it connects with no issues

i also get the error Packet data: packet data not available. Check network services.

VodacomData, just a point or two I would like to make. You would be amazed at the amount of tolerance, sympathy and understanding you can create with your customers by sharing a bit more info on the real extent and cause of your current problem with the network. By ducking and diving you are trying to imply that we are just a few disgruntled customers. Meanwhile the whole Gauteng is on dialup speed or just about.

Come on, be brave and tell us what you think the problem is that we are all experiencing during the last week. Share your possible solutions to the problem with us?

Maybe I am asking way too much!!

Morné, something interesting has been happening this evening. I connect and get reasonably good speeds. Then, after a while, the speeds start dropping to the point where there is virtually no throughput.

I disconnect and reconnect and the speeds are back to normal. This has happened quite a few times since my last post.

Edit: This again happened while I was typing this message. Had to reconnect to be able to send the message! :(:(

Hi All

The problem in Gauteng north and South was supposed to have been resolved last night. I am still waiting on feedback from NMC(Network Management) as to the cause and resolution.

There are some forumites experiencing problems , so we not quite there yet.

Hi All

Please note that some clients just started experiencing 619 error when trying to connect to 3G but is able to connect via GPRS. It is currently being investigated

Attention: V/Data.

Please could you ask the techies to have a look at the following tower: Kloof Civic, Kloof outside Durban. From the end of March until now the speeds have been shocking with constant reloads and disconnects. It almost seems as if HSDPA has completely disappeared since the so-called upgrade of all customers to 7.2. Prior to the end of March, there were no problems at all for around a 5 month period. Haven't mentioned anything up until now because I reckoned that it was related to the upgrading and would sort itself out, but it hasn't so if you could please request them to have a look, it will be much appreciated.

Dersley Springs is down

Hi All,

Springs tower in Dersley is down.
GPRS is the only medium available.

Regards

Hi All there has been problems in KZN where certain clients were experiencing error 619 errors when connecting via 3G and GPRS.

As per NMC the problem was due to the CISCO ACE load balancer in Durban that froze. The load balancer was rebooted in order to resolve the problem.
