At 06:45 I saw a download speed of 3.75Mbps and I thought all the problems had been resolved. Now at 09:30 the speed is down to 0.52Mbps which is certainly not acceptable for a so called broadband connection that purports to offer 7.2Mbps. Back in the day when all that was on offer was 1.8Mbps at least I used to see over 1.2Mbps regularly.

I may be speaking too soon but the SLOW throughput I was experiencing seems to have been sorted out. If this is due to VodacomData's intervention, thank you very much. Yesterday at lunch time download speed was 0.25Mbps! Today at 07:00 it was 3.7Mbps and at 13:30 it was 3.37Mbps. This I can live with. Mind you, 7.6 would be nice. :o

Ok, so everything is supposed to be up and running now? Seacom was fixed this morning?

I still have very slow throughput. I have full HSPDA signal, but I get better speeds when I switch to edge.
I have to disable javascript and flash just to be able to browse.
The Last 3 months have been hell with vodacoms 3G. The service has been so unreliable.
The last 3-4 weeks 3G has been non-existent.
I've had it now. Please vodacom, please just sort it out!

I started using Vodacoms 3G service two and half years ago. Back then I had better speeds than what I've had this year.
The network has just been getting worse and worse. Things are supposed to be getting better!

1) Location: Tower 11192 & 11197
2) Time of issue: 19:00 - The last month or so...
3) Device: Hauwei E220
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): pre-paid
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: What's the use, they just tell you install the latest firmware.
It's a vodacom network issue. I have the latest firmware. Everyone in my family has a E220 and is having the same issue. Friends down the road from us, same issue. Friends on the other side of town, same issue.
So go to the freaking towers and check it out for yourself.
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible): Not possible, too slow.

I think it's time to check out the mweb uncapped service.

Attention: V/Data.

Please could you ask the techies to have a look at the following tower: Kloof Civic, Kloof outside Durban. From the end of March until now the speeds have been shocking with constant reloads and disconnects. It almost seems as if HSDPA has completely disappeared since the so-called upgrade of all customers to 7.2. Prior to the end of March, there were no problems at all for around a 5 month period. Haven't mentioned anything up until now because I reckoned that it was related to the upgrading and would sort itself out, but it hasn't so if you could please request them to have a look, it will be much appreciated.

Same again as above........started on Saturday and hasn't improved at all....hardly any signal and speed is veeeeeeeeeeeeery slow.....

Confirmed with KZN radio that there is an STM-0 down, affecting many 3G sites in KZN South Coast Region.
Escalated to Telkom

KZN is up and running again , Problem was due to Telkom planned work running over time.

It is?..........Ok..........if you say so..........think someone has been lying to you.....maybe someone should let the towers know :)

Will check how it goes during the course of the afternoon and let you know.

1) Location: Randburg -> Sundowner
2) Time of issue: Can't remember when it last worked
3) Device: B970

so a while back Vodacom installed an aerial in my roof for me. Ref number A4-5UO9-SH114

It has never worked very well. Always shows full signal but can never connect.

The last 4 weeks however it has not worked at all with or without the aerial. The same prepaid sim works everywhere else except at home.

So I am currently having to use my MTN prepaid sim at home.

Randpark Ridge

Please guys, sort this out? Not sure how long it's been - but pretty embarressing having to walk in Postnet and using friends DSLs while have 3x Vodacom data SIMSs at home.

Details in slow throughput thread - but nothing has happened in 24hrs

Hi All

The SAIX links are currently down.
Subscribers might encounter problems when ...
1. accessing the internet would be slow
2. downloads will be slow
3. and problems accessing international websites.

Okay. Ive had enough of this crap from Vodacom.

It seems the only way to get any response from Voda is to go the legal route. I called Vodacom this morning to find out what the hell has been done about my complaint. My E220 can pickup 3G, but as soon as I click connect, it goes to GPRS ROAMING.
I called Vodacom this morning AGAIN to find out if there has been any progress with the issue I reported. They insist its been resolved. I assured them it hasnt... they want me to lodge another complaint. Now, How ridiculous is that?
Even a courtesy call to say "Hey bastard, wait in line. We have other issues that take priority" would have sufficed.

I PAY for a service. If I do not get that service, am I not entitled to some compensation? Seriously, Im sick of the way theyve handled this issue for the past few weeks now... so Ill be consulting an attorney later today...

Is Vodacom Becoming More Unusable?

Hi Everyone

I run my own business from home, working on the Internet. For years I have been with Vodacom.

Lately I am getting more and more disconnections and slow Interet from Vodacom.

My modem software is updated to the latest software. I do get good connections, but they seem to dissappear frequently and my connection dies.

Sometimes, when my connection dies, I can not access the Internet for 2 days.

Currently I get around 30 - 160 disconnections per day. I have video screenshots of up to 10 hours showing this happen.

Is there something we can do? My business is suffering due to this.

Erratic Signal Strength, PLZ HELP

1) Location: Randburg >> Jukskei Park
2) Time of issue: Last 5 Months
3) Device: B970
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): Contract
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: Which one? I have so many...

Vodacom: DL: 3.06Mb/s UP: 0.52MB/s Ping: 686ms
Speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/result/804683562.png
7.) Signal: Ranges, Very Good (88dBm) - Poor (100dBm)

Today Vodacom finally installed an aerial on my roof after 5 Months of waiting
However my signal is very erratic every thing from Very Good (80dBm) - Poor (100dBm)
Stays on very good for a few minutes then back to poor.

Wondering if their is a fault with our closest base-station.
A similar thing was happening before the antenna but with less changes Poor(100dBm) to Very Poor(-110dBm)

About to go back up and try find a better direction :(

PS: Why is my ping so different on these 2 tests?

-------------------------------------[EDIT]----------------------------------------------
Found that by switching that small switch at the back of the router to external has solved the problem.

This still does not explain my Ping and Vodacom throughput in the Jukskei Park area is still on edge,
even when getting great signal. Please put my vast amounts of money for your service to good use
and fix these throughput problems!

And we back to ****...
I reported an issue last week thursday and friday. It was fixed and I was getting decent speeds.
No where near the speeds vodacom claims it is able to offer. But at least I was able to check my emails.
That lastest four days, now it's gone to **** again.
Vodacom is so unreliable. And how can they advertise speeds of 7.2Mbps. No one one the vodacom network gets that speed.
7.2Mbps is only the connection speed to the actual vodacom network.

What did they do?!

I complained a few days ago and I'm not getting the best speeds I've seen in 2 years in Randpark Ridge.

Last night I was getting at 400kbps+ and this morning the speed test showed an 80ms ping ...

Thanks VC!
