With the WA 1Mb you can download a maximum of 116GB per month if you stay inside the windows.
Mweb won't send two guys with baseball bats if you do 150GB or even more (just play nice with the shaping system).
You can retrospectively work it out though. Last month I paid R2.87 per gig.

Line at Telkom, Data at Mweb. I cancelled my WA account after 4 days.
Mweb won't hound you as long as you don't try to bypass their shaping system with torrent->https services, etc.
I bypass shaping with torrent-to-http every day. I've downloaded 3.4TB this way over the last 12 months. Based on my experience and that of people receiving abuse warnings, I think it's safe to say Mweb will only look your way if you use https or a VPN.

Why can't they provide us with the true cost of ADSL. (Telkom Line Rental {Unfortunately compulsory}+ ADSL Line Rental + ADSL Uncapped Account). If they do not want to make the article long then attach a spread sheet of some sort.
I would really like to get ADSL, but am unsure what line speeds Telkom supports where I stay. (Kitty, Virginia, Free State). Are there good alternatives? I currently have the Vodacom 2Gb promotion for 149 which expires next month.

That's good to know... but I've seen a few threads on http too, and Mweb Guy did confirm that. So either way, playing it safe with NNTP.
The thing that also makes a huge difference is the type and quality of the product. A shaped, semi-shaped or unshaped product with throttling at certain caps will make you choose a higher priced ISP with less restrictive throttling (or me anyways). And most of the ISPs don't offer "true" uncapped, as they throttle you to death and then the uncapped gets restricted to a slow 100-200GB capped account.
I wish the ISPs will just make a 50/100GB capped account for people like me, which don't OVER excessively use the internet but do download a couple of things, by excessive I mean people that download more than 200GB per month. They can then fix the speed (NO THROTTLING) and make it semi-shaped (I'm personally fine with semi-shaped at home, as I am only at home during after hours and weekends). They can then charge what they now charge for the "uncapped" accounts and the people cant overuse/misuse the product as per ISPs definition.

Some ISPs did bring out "large capped accounts":
Openweb: 100 GB Standard ADSL @ R798 (budget unshaped)
Web Africa: Home Adsl 100 Gigs @ R799pm (shaped)
... they're milking us because the accounts above don't have thresholds.

I have had great service from them but thinking of moving on, just on the price issue. I am paying so much for a 60GB account compared to the rest of the ISP's.
Now they increased it by a measly 12GB's for the same price. I waited patiently but I am not impressed.

I read complaints about shaping quite frequently on this forum, but my experience on Mweb's 4mb shaped uncapped account has been amazing. Browsing runs fast enough that I can't be bothered to check if I'm losing out on a few KB/s, Youtube is fast, I usually download at 350-450KB/s, downtime is far and few between, speed tests are acceptable and I end up paying less than R3 a gig. What is there to complain about?

the real sad part is I have been with afrihost for a few years now, but only in this month decided to go uncapped (finnaly worked the bugdet to fit it in ) afrihost services rock, but at the new prices I am looking at moving too
That is if you can afford the 4mbps line... so you can't really tell me NOT to complain. On the 4mbps the shaping wont be too obvious if you are just browsing, but when you are on a 1mbps line (like me) then the shaping starts to get ridiculous...

Im assuming thats a 4mb/10mb account,anyone with a 384 or 1mb account that can share their thoughts on mweb uncapped here?
