Centurion only GPRS 2010/01/17

Been experiencing a problem since last night (2010/01/16) some time. Using a wireless router with 3g card. Signal is reported as Excellent, but only GPRS, not the usual 3g. Connection is obviously horribly slow as result. Was fine until some time last night.

Any known issues in Centurion area?

Here are my details:
1) Location: Centurion, Gauteng
2) Time of issue: Currently 15:31 on 2010/01/17, but have been experiencing it since some time early this morning or late last night.
3) Device: Merlin XU870 ExpressCard
4) Contract type: Prepaid
5) Existing 155 ref numbers: not sure about this as I had trouble hearing the lady I spoke to, but I believe it's f2-5913#-#hdqm
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results: Ping 325ms, Download 0.05 Mbps, Upload 0.03 Mbps

This problem seems to be resolved. Wasn't at home to check on Monday, but since yesterday (Tuesday 2010/01/19) I'm back on full 3G.

3g network

1) Location: Dorchester Heights / Nahoon Valley, East London
2) Time of issue: Since Tuesday morning
3) Device: Option Datacard
4) Contract type: Prepaid
5) 155 people does not want to log a call until you upgrade the software!!!
My datacard is not flashing blue to show 3g connection.
Cellphone also does not show 3g availability.
Can connect using GPRS - but this gets you nowhere.

Tested connection on the Wesbank with datacard and sim and same software.
Working perfectly with 3g connection!

So - this is a network problem, not a datacard or software problem.
Why can these people not understand that?

Any more help on how to actually report the network issue would be appreciated!

Thanks
Adri

You can log it via email to [email protected] with the below info in your email.

Cell number to log call with (use your normal cell as you will get updates):
Contact person:
Alternative contact number:
Physical address where it is being experienced:
Nature of the problem:

Once you sent it off, you will get a ref number stipulating that your mail was received. Within 24 working hours you will get another email with another ref that was logged with the network guys. They will then come back to you regarding the logged problem and resolution. Once you have the ref number for network, you can also perhaps PM it to VD and he can also have a look for you.

Vodacom connectivity on 3G

Man I am really becomming frustrated by the Cr*p 3G data connectivity that VC is dishing out lately.
Last night at around 23h00 I could not have a decent Skype contact with my mate in the USA.Over a period of about an hout there must have been 10 - 12 disconnections. On checking I found the ping wat above 200 ms and upload about 50 kbs on my side. This is truly pathetic!

This is my Speed test at the moment:

I live in Sunward Park area of Boksburg and the service seems to be declining on a monthly basis. VC calls this cell breathing but I call it overpopulating the system. I see the upgrade program for 2010 in Gauteng does not even include our tower.

I have been with VC for a long tome now, but will have to consider requesting a cancellation of my contract due to non delivery/ poor service delivery from them
Can't wait for the Consumer Protection Law to kick in later this year.
PS. I wish Allan Knott-Craig will use the magic he paid so much for improve the service. Maybe a Sangoma would have been a better choice with no Foreign Exchange involved.

Yep, I have also been battling now since July 2009 where my 3G signal just disappears on a weekly basis.

155 Also blamed it on cell breathing when I spoke to them. They have been telling me about the new tower proposed in my area for the last 6 months, but the can't supply me with any dates. That's no help at all!

BIZZY Spending money on Nieces,Nephews, call centre agents.......Customers come second

I am in the Fourways area, and my 3G is useless as of yesterday. It connects and has decent signal strength (cca -83 dBm) but does not navigate anywhere. It just fails to locate any servers, domestic or international. GPRS is sporadically showing the same problem, but it's bearable. I'm on a contract, using a K3715 Huawei.
